Stretching!

Today I got a phone call from Jocelyn at Stitch.  She is in the process of finalizing the sign-ups for a series of upcoming classes with Sue Spargo.  Jocelyn describes her store as a “sanctuary” for quilters and knitters.  And it is so that.  Her Flicker account has loads of pictures and this is one of those times where a picture is worth a million words!  I wish I lived next door or at least in the neighbourhood,  and not an hour and a half away from her store!   I took Sue’s course when she came to Stitch last year, and was so motivated after those two days that I worked obsessively to complete my sampler within days.  The quilting is next!

The sampler I did in Sue Spargo’s class!

I find taking courses in areas that are not in my usual skill set or outside my style is a wonderful way to stretch myself creatively.  One idea can spark another. One path can lead to another that takes you somewhere unexpected.  And most of all, while I am doing this stretching I am having fun!  There are no creative police to say yes or no … there are no mistakes … the only goal is to let go and explore … open to the possibilities … they are myriad!  This is the fun I had!

I love the organic nature of the little bullions!

Those circles are so textural I just want to swirl my finger over them! Addictive too!

Seeds in a pod!

Star leaf! Variegated thread adds more movement to the edging!

French knots dance and play around the edge!

I learned how to stitch the beads so they would lay flat!

Thank you Sue and Jocelyn!   This week’s blog book tour stop is Linda at Quilts In The Barn.  I met Linda in Kansas City in Mary Koval’s booth.

Linda has posted about her “Four Play” project and her block is incredibly sweet!  And she was brave.  A firm believer in pressing as she goes, she took the leap of faith and only finger pressed as she went, leaving the pressing until the block was done, with fabulous results.  Now she is embarking on a Red and White Signature quilt.  She is one busy lady!   Next stop on the tour is Jenny Cardon Wilding of Martingale on their blog Stitch This!   If this is your first time to my blog, welcome!  And be sure to go to my inaugural post and leave a comment for a chance to win one of ten giveaways!   Have a great week & Happy Stitching!
