Spring where are you?
We are waiting. Spring is thinking about springing … but still thinking about it apparently! There is an eight inch thick, 12 foot by 8 foot pad of ice on the driveway in front of my garage. The man across the street took out his axe to chop through the ice in the shade of his front lawn and pitch it into the sunshine on the street. Another neighbour broke out her kids bikes. Winter coats, winter boots and bikes … a new combination. I am Canadian. Weather is our thing. We talk about it. We survive it. Are proud of that. It has been a long winter, even by our standards.
When it was warm enough a few weeks ago (+1C) I was giddy about going to the car wash and delighted by the colour of the foamy soap in comparison to the grey scenery outside.
And I thank my stars for these beauties that brightened the days …
And these ….
It’s raining out now. +3C. The ice doesn’t know it but it doesn’t stand a chance.
Happy Stitching!
