Twelve Quilts of Christmas

As we are all preparing for the festivities of the season, I thought some green and white antique quilts would be a lovely way to celebrate our quilting heritage during the holidays! Every other day, I will share a wonderful green and white antique quilt to inspire and entice. I hope you will join me and share my blog with your friends.

The power of suggestion! The delicate design, which otherwise might be interpreted as leaves or pineapple elements, looks like snowflakes!

How can anyone look at this and think it’s anything other than beautiful art? When these were done solely by hand, without blogs and youtube to help, too! What gifted women and men we have in our ancestry.

This quilt is lovely, and I can’t wait to see more! I don’t recall seeing green and white quilts before, mostly blue or red two-color quilts! This is a treat! Thanks!
Regan, there certainly are not as many green and white quilts to chose from. Fewer quilts is likely the result of two things: what was fashionable at the time (red & white and blue & white quilts were tremendously popular if we go by the number of surviving quilts) and the stability of the green dyes. So glad some survived. I think they are so fresh looking!

What a captivating quilt for the holidays or any time of year. Green and white is such a classic color combination. I am in awe of the workmanship. I marvel at how quilters of yesteryear were able to do so much with less. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
