Twelve Quilts of Christmas 2017 – #3
DECEMBER 16, 2017
A skillfully designed scrap quilt it is also a rare example of small piecing not usually found in the Ontario Mennonite community. Containing 5226 pieces, it’s former owner said that the overall effect of the design was one of “subtle settledness and motion.” Well put. Simple cross hatch quilting runs through every other block and compliments the overall design.
For me, what draws me into this quilt is the combination of colours. Divine!
What draws you into this quilt?
The quilt is well balanced. So many little pieces.
Mesmerizing! Reminds me of a tile floor. Thanks for this year’s quilts of Christmas,
I love those red and black centers! They pop! And I think it’s an interesting choice of border….surprisingly, it calms down the pattern! I love it!
Absolutely right about that border … many might think it is too busy of a print, but it adds so much to the quilt.
A lovely, joyful quilt!
Thank you Barbara!
Boy this is a beautiful quilt. love the simplicity of the colors and design; Being a lover of scrap quilts this one is at the top of my list.
There is definitely something to be said for simplicity. Thanks for stopping by Diana.
The centers and blue square surround draw me in! It is so vibrant.
Isn’t colour interesting. I am drawn immediately to the light greenish-blue rounds!
I just found your blog and am loving the 12 quilts of Christmas! Beautiful
Thank you so much Doris. So glad you found my blog.
