Twelve Quilts of Christmas – #12
DECEMBER 25, 2022
This final quilt embraces the feeling of the season and highlights the theme this year twice, with both the circular design and all those berries! I love circles.
The green and red celebrate the season and that bit of yellow livens this design so wonderfully.
At once bold and delicate, cheery and intent, open and light … well … this quilt is simply a delightful way to end this collection of Circle Quilts by design.
I am so glad you all joined me for this year’s Twelve Quilts of Christmas. It has been a joy to bring these quilts to you this year.
Wishing you and your families a healthy and happy holiday season, and a wonderful New Year!
Mary Elizabeth
Thank you so much for having done this again this year. I was looking forward to it and I was not disappointed. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thank you for a wonderful quilt journey.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays🎄
I have really enjoyed your selection of quilts this year. Thank you so much for doing this work every year. I really look forward to your selection each year. I wish you a belated Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year.
This quilt is such a lesson to me! If I were making it, I would be killing myself making sure the oakleaf round was centered up and down! I’ve not done a lot of applique, but I know I would have worked on that until perfectly lined up! And yet….because it’s rotated toward the right, my eyes move that way! And then the circle with the big berries seems to move counterclockwise….and the whole quilt is in motion! The four corner sprigs contain it without needing a border….and I’m in love with this quilt! Again….it’s a lesson I need to see, pay attention to, and remember when I’m working out a design. Not sure how deliberate it all was, but I’m so happy to see how well it works!
Thanks for this lovely quilt show again this year, Mary Elizabeth! You always seem to pick such amazing and diverse examples of your theme! And I love your commentary on each quilt, showing elements we might have missed! Thanks a bunch, and I hope you have a happy and healthy new year!
Yummy quilts! Love the sharp points and the amazing detail. My grandmother was about the same age at the same time and so this story seems more familiar to me. I still have 2 of her quilts. And we use them! Thanks for this wonderful story.
So glad you are enjoying the Twelve Quilts of Christmas. What an interesting perspective you have with your grandmother being the same age! Thank you for joining us this year!
