Twelve Quilts of Christmas 2014 – #1

Twinkle twinkle little star … and big star … and lots of stars!  Over the past year I have come across many star quilts that captured my heart and so this year for the Twelve Quilts of Christmas I want to share with you some of my favourites.  Oh what hard choices I had to choose just 12!

Found on Pook and Pook Auctioneers

Double stars!

The delicate feathered stars in this dynamic quilt are beautifully balanced by the stars in the sashing that radiate with energy!

I hope you will join me every day from now until the 25th

for this celebration of stars and share my blog with your friends!

Enjoy!

Can’t wait and want to start stitching now, you can get a digital copy here.

Last year I wrote about the wild and wooly winter we had here in Toronto.  Really wooly … lots of hats and mitts and scarves.  The ice storm just before Christmas left a thick layer blanketing everything. It was both crippling, leaving tens of thousands without power …

During those post storm, polar vortex days I was dreaming of bright greens and warm sunny colours. I was Dreaming of Spring!  This is the block I created for Volume 10.

And of course I was thinking about some small pieces too!  I just couldn’t help myself!

Meet Modern Country!

Last week, a whole day before expected, the FedEx driver knocked on my door.  In fact it was not just one FedEx driver, but two!  Apparently it takes two to carry in a 128 pound box!

What's in the box?

What’s in the box?

I was all smiles …  from ear to ear. And it was contagious because they were smiling too as they carried in that heavy box!  Afterwards my sister-in-law said they were probably smiling because I was bouncing in the doorway like a kid on Christmas morning!  How did she see that?  She lives in Seattle!

Once it was inside, there was the blur of the open!

And the glee at seeing the contents in person.  Rolls and rolls of it!

Wow!

Wow!
